Only the French would codify the drinking of wine into law.
On November 18, San Pedro pub The Whale & Ale will be expecting its first shipment of Beaujolais nouveau to arrive at LAX around 11 AM. Later that day the wine will be …

The restaurant merry-go-round continues at the Paseo Colorado complex with Noor Restaurant, a French-Mediterranean due to open by Thanksgiving in the second-story space that was last home to the Pasadena Jazz Institute; it’s just across from the soon-to-open branch of El Cholo (Paseo Colorado, 260 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena).
Ultravenerable Pasadena Californian The Raymond is marching into the 21st century with the addition of a new bar called 1886 (the year the building opened as a caretaker’s cottage for the nearby Raymond Hotel). Aidan Demarest (beverage director at …

But the grande dame of kooky cupcakes must be the turkey gravy and cranberry flavor – “a turkey gravy cupcake seasoned with savory Thanksgiving gravy, topped with a fresh cranberry relish cream …

The latest monomaniacal food truck to hit the streets is The Hungry Nomad, a spin-off of LA’s numerous Armenian Sasoun Bakeries – which themselves are spin-offs of the Sasoun Bakeries run by the Yeretsian family in Lebanon and Syria. The truck’s specialty is lahmajun, which some people refer to as “Armenian pizza” – and in many ways it is. The bread comes topped with ground beef, numerous Middle Eastern cheeses, onions, red peppers, the intense (and intensely addictive) spice called za’atar, spinach and, of course, yogurt. Hummus, french fries, …
