Once again, we find ourselves confused by a World’s Best list from Travel + Leisure. The magazine has just released its 2011 T+L 500 guide which always makes us giddy as we love seeing which hotels are hot and which are not. But when we noticed that the best hotel in Los Angeles is the Hotel Bel-Air, it felt like someone popped the pretty balloon we had been holding. And then knocked over our ice cream too.
That’s because the Hotel Bel-Air has been closed for over a year for …

Hmm…we can’t really classify this under Holiday Hotel Decorations. Perhaps we need to start a new series, Holiday Hotel Cards?
The Sunset Tower in West Hollywood is known to bow down to every request put forth by their celebrity clientele. (Want an oven in your suite? No problem! Just ditch that drunk make-up artist.)
But for the holiday season, hotelier Jeff Klein decided to reach out to a few regular celeb guests for some help. The NY Times’ Media Decoder blog reports that Klein enlisted the help of “Lonely Island” …

YES, it actually gets cold enough in Los Angeles to call for The Standard-Hollywood and The Standard-Downtown LA to throw some woolen Pendleton blanket on their guestroom beds and YES of course they are selling them to anyone who wants to take home the artist-created designs themselves. The two blankets were officially released into the Standard Shop just before Thanksgiving, and indeed they could be ideal gifts for the person in your life that obsesses over staying at one of Andre Balazs’ hotels.

So, you thought Charlie Sheen was hogging the spotlight when it came to bad celebrity hotel behavior? Nope! It seems he’s happy to share that stage with estranged wife Brooke Mueller–who spent Thanksgiving eve at the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel in L.A., but the next day in rehab.

Have you ever wanted to confront meet HotelChatter in person? Well if you’re in Los Angeles today, Thursday, November 11, now is your chance.
We’re holding a very laid-back meet-up at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza inside their sexy X Bar for anyone who loves hotels, travel and drinking. (Note: these are not mutually exclusive.) And the key word is casual. We’ll be squatting in a corner area of the bar, drinking away and probably Twittering. But don’t worry, we won’t force you to use a hashtag or anything!

Yet another reason why choose to visit hotels with free WiFi? Because they give us an excuse to whip out our iPad and do some serious online shopping, work web browsing.
We snapped this picture today during breakfast at Market inside the lobby at The JW Marriott at LA Live. Internet is free in the lobby which is a good thing because there are plenty of places to sit and hang out like the Market restaurant, the gLAnce wine bar, the Mixing Room cocktail bar and the Espressamente Illy coffee …

Part of what made the Bazaar restaurant inside the SLS Hotel a true bazaar was the eccentric retail space inhabited by Moss, a purveyor of many oddities ranging from “18th century noble cabinets de curiosités” to hefty art and photography books. The space was fun to stroll through after dinner or while waiting for a table but it was not the sort of place to pick up a trinket for your friend back home.
But now SLS has done away with Moss and put in its place, Regalo, a gift …
